Nine Ladies Dancing - Health and Safety Guidelines

OUR HEALTH AND SAFETY MISSION

Our studio is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment where children can grow in dance technique, physical health, emotional well-being, and Christian character. These guidelines help protect every child and promote a culture of respect, joy, and stewardship of the body God has given us.

Biblical Guidance:  “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31

All members of our studio community—students, parents, and teachers—are expected to model Christ-like behavior.

We encourage:

  • Kindness, patience, humility, and self-control
  • Encouraging and uplifting words
  • Honesty and integrity
  • Forgiveness and grace

Bullying, gossip, teasing, exclusion, or unkind behavior will not be tolerated in the studio or at studio-related events.

Striving for Healthy Habits

We believe caring for the body honors God.

Eating Healthy & Body Stewardship

Our studio promotes a healthy and biblical view of the body.

Studio commitments:

  • No negative talk about body size, shape, or weight
  • No food shaming or diet discussions in class
  • No comparisons between students’ bodies or abilities

We encourage:

  • Viewing food as fuel for strength and growth
  • Balanced, nourishing choices
  • Gratitude for God’s provision

Any health or nutrition concerns should be addressed privately with parents, never discussed with students.

Biblical Guidance:  “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31

Staying Healthy Through Exercise

Dance is a physical discipline, and safety is essential.

Our approach includes:

  • Proper warm-ups and cool-downs
  • Age-appropriate technique and training progression
  • Encouragement to listen to one’s body
  • Open communication about pain, injury, or discomfort

Students should never push through pain or hide injuries.

Biblical Guidance:  Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul..” – 3 John 1:2

Physical Safety & Injury Prevention

To protect students:

  • Injuries or medical conditions should be disclosed to the studio
  • Modified participation will be supported when needed
  • Return-to-dance guidance should be followed after illness or injury

The studio maintains clean, safe facilities and appropriate class supervision.

Biblical Guidance:  “The Lord sustains them when they are sick and restores them to health.” – Psalms 41:3

Emotional Safety & Positive Environment

Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and encouraged.

We strive to:

  • Create a classroom free from fear, favoritism, or comparison
  • Celebrate effort, progress, and perseverance
  • Allow room for mistakes as part of learning

Emotional safety is treated with the same importance as physical safety.

Biblical Guidance: “Encourage one another and build each other up.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Appropriate Social Media Usage

Students, parents, and teachers represent the studio both in person and online.

Guidelines include:

  • No posting inappropriate images, language, or content
  • No negative comments about students, families, staff, or the studio
  • No private social media messaging between teachers and students without parental awareness
  • Photos or videos of students may only be shared according to studio consent policies

Online behavior should always reflect Christian values.

Teacher Conduct & Responsibilities

Teachers are role models and mentors.

Teachers are expected to:

  • Maintain professional physical and verbal boundaries
  • Communicate respectfully with parents
  • Avoid being alone with a student when possible
  • Follow all studio safety and conduct policies

Concerns regarding teacher conduct should be reported promptly to studio leadership.

Biblical Guidance:  “Set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12

Parent Behavior & Partnership

  • Refrain from coaching, correcting, or disciplining students during class

Disruptive or disrespectful behavior may result in limited observation privileges.
